Surface plasmon polaritons have attracted much attentions in the recent years because they are suitable to achieve focusing to length scales smaller than the diffraction limit of light. We propose a novel type of nanoscaled Tamm states for light enhancement which we call plasmonic Tamm states (PTSs). Due to the PTS effects, fields can be enhanced for a second time at the terminal side of the MIM BR on the basis of the dimension confinement. PTSs structure is able to acquire large field enhancement without very sharp waveguide tapered end (< 10 nm), which can reduce the processing cost. In this project we study PTSs experimentally. PTSs structure are fabricated in metal-insulator-metal slot waveguides after parameters are optimized by simulation. The dual enhancement of electromagnetic fields is characterized by scanning near-field optical microscopy. Moreover, PTSs will be applied in Tip-enhanced Raman Scattering, which can focus light more efficiently and improve the detection sensitivity.
